MEET Zane

Registered Psychologist

What brings someone to therapy is sometimes very clear, they may be experiencing a problem in their life that is causing them significant pain, which drives them to seek help. For others it could be a vague restlessness, a sense of boredom or emptiness that pushes them to try to figure things out. Regardless of what brings you to therapy, I aim to meet you exactly where you are, with compassion and without judgment. I take time to truly connect with you to ensure that you feel heard and understood.

I understand the challenge of connecting with and expressing an authentic inner voice in a world filled with the standards and expectations of culture, faith, family and society. I understand the loneliness and complexity in being different, the struggle to be yourself when standing at an intersection pointing to different parts of your identity. Through our conversations I hope to help you identify that inner voice and explore ways to express it in your every day in a way that is truly meaningful to you.

I recognise that life is about relationships, be it the relationship with ourselves as well as our relationships with partners, friends, family and the wider world. Our feelings in these relationships can be complex and contradictory and we can sometimes end up acting in ways that unnecessarily hurt ourselves and others. I aim to work with you on identifying the patterns that play out in your relationships, understand why you might behave in these ways and explore the possibilities of acting in ways that better serve you and the people you care about.

In my work I bring in different skills and therapeutic tools depending on what you might need. The core of my work involves the use of Attachment Theory, Transference Focussed Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, and Existential philosophy.
