aboutALLIRA
Allira is an Accredited Mental Health Occupational Therapist with 15 years’ experience working with children, adolescents and adults in both hospital and community mental health settings. She is a member of Occupational Therapy Australia and holds registration with AHPRA.
Allira has a passion for assisting people to identify and reconnect with meaningful life roles so that they can improve their quality of life. Allira works with individuals and their support people by engaging them in assessment and tailoring intervention based on their specific needs. She prides herself on having a person centred, holistic and trauma informed approached to therapy.
Allira offers mental health occupational therapy services to people aged 12 years and older experiencing mental health challenges who need pragmatic treatment modalities to assist them to reconnect with their activities of daily living and occupational roles. She takes elements of Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to compliment her role as an Occupational Therapist.
Allira has a specific interest in Adolescents and Adults who identify as being on the Autism Spectrum and/or anyone who experiences sensory processing difficulties. She also has an interest in animal therapy and her Rescue Greyhound can be part of therapy sessions!
As part of her service Allira offers individuals the option to partake in a Sensory Profile Assessment and/or a Functional Capacity Assessment to assist with identifying challenges ad strengths, identifying goals, and tailoring plans in accordance with these.
The Sensory Profile assessment identifies a person’s unique sensory preferences. A “sensory diet” can then be devised in order to best enhance a person to be able to regulate and organise their response to sensory input based on their unique nervous system. A Sensory Profile report is included with recommendations for behavioural and environmental modifications which can provided to workplaces, schools etc. to enable an individual to reengage with meaningful roles.
A Functional Capacity Assessment provides a baseline for how a person can participate in their identified occupational roles. From this observational and standardised assessment strengths and limitations are identified and recommendations can be made to improve performance.
